To be sure of your credit history you might decide to obtain a Statutory Credit Report from all three of the main CRAs. The lenders that are members of one, two or all three report the repayment of credit to these user groups and only lenders that are members of a user group can access this data. Experian's user group is CAIS, Equifax' is Insight and Callcredit's is SHARE.

All CRAs provide very similar public information (regarding insolvencies, court adjudications, financial sanctions, etc.) but each CRA hosts a closed user group that lenders may be members of. The information held by each CRA may not be the same. Your check is not recorded on your credit file and does not leave a footprint. The three main CRAs for consumers are Experian, Equifax and CallCredit. Under the Data Protection Act 2018, you are entitled to receive a Statutory Credit Report for free. If you want to check your credit history you should consider obtaining such a report. If your credit history is wrong or incomplete it may result in you being refused credit.
